Palmetto Bay's Summer Night Market Kept Going, and Thursday Became the Fixed Point of Fall

The Sunset Eats Night Market opened at Palmetto Bay Park on Thursday, June 11, and its organizer called it "the perfect Thursday night destination all summer long." Summer is over, and the Village of Palmetto Bay's own calendar still lists the market every Thursday in October. It comes back in December.

That changes how the rest of the season lines up. Deering Estate's after-dark programs, the Village's Saturday events and the Sunday-morning yoga series fall on other days. Only a couple of them land on a Thursday. One weeknight in Palmetto Bay now has something scheduled every week, and the rest of the calendar fills in around it.

A summer series that stayed on the calendar

The market is run by Central Makers. It sets up on Park Road inside Palmetto Bay Park at 17535 SW 95th Ave, in front of the ball fields and the playground. Hours are 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. The lineup includes food vendors, artisan makers, sweet treats and entertainment. The organizer notes that the park and playground stay open until 10 p.m., so families can stay a little after the last vendor packs up. The Village's event listing describes the night as local food, live music and more. The organizer bills every Thursday as "weather permitting," and that matters in a South Florida fall when an evening storm can roll in fast.

October's first market was October 1. The Village has four more on the calendar this month:

  • Thursday, October 8
  • Thursday, October 15
  • Thursday, October 22
  • Thursday, October 29

After that, the next dates we found on the Village calendar are Thursdays, December 3, 10 and 17. They keep the same 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. hours at Palmetto Bay Park. We did not find November dates, and we found no explanation for the gap. If you're planning around a November Thursday, check the Village of Palmetto Bay events calendar first.

Two Thursdays where Deering Estate asks you to choose

Most of the season's evening programming happens on the other nights, and the main exception is at Deering Estate. The estate, at 16701 SW 72nd Ave, runs its Historic Ghost Tours on October 8, 13, 15 and 20. The October 8 and 13 listings run 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. and cost $45. The estate describes the tours as stories of historic events, earlier inhabitants and recorded paranormal activity, told along paths that Indigenous people, Miami's early settlers and Charles Deering once walked.

October 8 and October 15 are both Thursdays, so on those two nights the ghost tour overlaps the market. October 13 and 20 are Tuesdays, which leaves room for both: a market Thursday one week and a ghost tour the next.

Deering's other October night program is on a Wednesday. The Night Hike & Campfire runs October 14 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and costs $25 per person. A naturalist leads the hike to Cutler Creek, and a campfire follows. Tickets are sold online only, through Miami-Dade Park Link. Spaces are limited. Youth ages 4 to 17 can attend with a registered parent or guardian, and Deering Estate Foundation members get a 10% discount with a code.

Here is how the remaining October evenings look side by side:

Date Day Evening event Where Time
Oct 8 Thursday Sunset Eats Night Market Palmetto Bay Park 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Oct 14 Wednesday Night Hike & Campfire, $25 Deering Estate 7 to 9:30 p.m.

Weekends start in the morning and finish in a park

On the Village calendar, weekends follow a different pattern than Thursdays. The Saturday evening events are one-offs. Sunday mornings have the weekly series.

Yoga by the Bay meets Sundays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. It's at Thalatta Estate, 17301 Old Cutler Road, on October 11 and 18. On October 25 it moves to Ludovici Park at 17641 Old Cutler Road. Both sites are on Old Cutler Road, so the class stays on the same road even when the venue changes.

Saturday evenings have two events this month. On October 10, Perrine Community House at 900 E. Perrine Avenue hosts the Art South Art Exhibit featuring Susan Feldman from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. That same day, Deering Estate holds Meet the Artists-in-Residence from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Put together, October 10 is the village's arts day: Deering's artists in the late morning and afternoon, then the Perrine Community House exhibit in the evening.

On October 24, Coral Reef Park at 7895 SW 152 Street hosts the Village's Halloween Trick-or-Treat & Movie Night from 6 to 9 p.m. Halloween itself falls on the following Saturday this year, so the Village event comes a full week early. It also lands two days after the October 22 market, which puts two evening events at two different Village parks in the same week.

Coral Reef Park also hosted the Wieners & Friends Bark Bash on Sunday, October 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. That one is already past. If dog-friendly events are your thing, it's a good one to mark down for next year.

What Palmetto Bay Park is waiting on

The market isn't the only change at Palmetto Bay Park this fall. On July 30, 2026, the Village announced that the Skate Park had closed for improvements and that the renovation would take three months, weather permitting. Three months from late July lands at the end of October, which overlaps the last October market dates. The Village hasn't posted a reopening date that we could find, and the announcement points to the Village's Facebook and Instagram reels for progress updates. If the work wraps on schedule, families coming for the market could have the playground open until 10 p.m. and the Skate Park back at the same time. That depends on a date the Village hasn't announced yet.

The season after the market's October run

From mid-November on, Deering Estate takes over most of the scheduled calendar:

  • 14th Annual Vintage Auto Show, Sunday, November 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Historic Holidays Décor, "Tides & Tidings," November 27 through January 6, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Mistletoe & Martinis, Friday, December 11, 7:30 to 11 p.m.

Mistletoe & Martinis falls on the Friday between the December 10 and December 17 market Thursdays. The weekly market and Deering's holiday evening are on back-to-back nights that week, with no overlap.

The Village's own holiday centerpiece is less settled. The Student Photography Contest runs through October 23, and its listing says the winners will be recognized at the annual December Light Up Your Holidays event. We could not find a confirmed 2026 date, time or location for Light Up Your Holidays. Until the Village posts one, three December market Thursdays are the village holiday dates already on the calendar.

For now, the plan for any October Thursday is simple: Palmetto Bay Park, 17535 SW 95th Ave, from 5:30 p.m., with the playground open until 10.
